A Stream in Texas
12x9 watercolor on paper
Buy it at: https://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/gregory-cross-8940

Another watercolor but based only on a picture I have. Here is a stream somewhere in Texas, I don't remember where, and I have attempted to make it into an interesting watercolor. Still getting used to the medium, though, so I'm not sure if I was successful.

Poppies
12x9 acrylic on linen canvas over wood panel
But it at: https://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/gregory-cross-8940

I haven't painted very many flowers, even my still lives are of fruit or objects. I don't know why other than I just haven't had the urge to paint them. So, unusual as it is, here is a floral piece of some poppies .

The Village
9x12 Watercolor on paper
Buy it at: https://www.dailypaintworks.com/Artists/gregory-cross-8940

I have been wanting to do watercolor for quite awhile but have been procrastinating. It is so different from my usual acrylics that I was nervous to try it. This watercolor was inspired by a tutorial demo by the Australian painter Rod Moore. Like when I started with acrylics, I have been watching lots of demos and painting studies to learn the medium. I was happy with this one, so decided to sign it and call it a painting. So, my first serious watercolor "The Village".

Rage
12x12 acrylic on stretched cotton canvas
Buy it at: https://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/gregory-cross-8940/artwork

Late the other night I had this urge to paint. As I started painting things kind of overwhelmed me and you might say I had a hissy fit. Sometimes things just catch up with you, I guess. Anyway, here is the abstract called "Rage". No idea why.

The San Antonio River
11x14 acrylic on stretched cotton canvas
Buy it at: https://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/gregory-cross-8940/artwork
Here is another painting from pictures I took back in February when my youngest son and I went along the river. This island in the middle of the river is between Mission Park-Pavilions and Padre Park. This is about the fifth or sixth painting I've done from those photos. Not a bad output for one single outing.

I did a few glass vases before with mixed success, so I decided to try another one. This one with a single rose.

Saucy
10x8 acrylic on Belgian linen over wood panel
Buy it at:https://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/gregory-cross-8940

It seems like one out of every 6 paintings I do is a still life. I do them because they are easy to set up and the subject matter is everywhere. Here I took a couple of condiment bottles and some paper plates and placed them on my dinning room table. I actually had a Tabasco Sauce bottle in the original composition next to the Hunts ketchup but on the right instead of the left, so I left it out. Turned out I didn't need it anyway. At least you can tell what it is.

Yin and Yang
11x14 acrylic on Belgian linen over wood panel
Buy it at: https://www.dailypaintworks.com/Artists/gregory-cross-8940

Here is a landscape with a stream and some rocks at the base of a wooded hill. I liked the black rock/white rock in the foreground so I named it "Yin and Yang"

The Shuttle
11x14 acrylic on stretched Belgian linen canvas
Buy it at: https://www.dailypaintworks.com/Artists/gregory-cross-8940

Here is another geometric shape abstract. This one reminds me of the shuttlecock of a loom working between green threads, hence the name. I still like to paint just about everything but geometric shape abstracts is becoming one of my favorites. At least, so far.

Trees and a Fence Post
8x10 acrylic on Belgian linen over wood panel
Buy it at: https://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/gregory-cross-8940/artwork

Here is a painting of two trees in the middle of a field in line with a fence post. The line of the road between fields is on the left and runs beside the trees on the other side of the slight rise of the field in the foreground.

Pearsall Park
8x10 acrylic on Belgian linen over wood panel
Buy it at: https://www.dailypaintworks.com/artists/gregory-cross-8940/artwork

This is a painting from a day I spent with my youngest son in one of the many parks in San Antonio, Texas. Here this path is going along Leon Creek which you can hear but not see, yet. Once you get around that corner up ahead you come to a point where you can go down to the creek. I took a lot of pictures as we walked along hoping to get some paintings out of it. I liked this scene because of the rock bench and the bright blue trash can.

Decided to try another bird, this time a small one. Here is a red finch known as a common redpoll on a branch.
